Colorful Watercolor Series/4 Tuesdays - Sandy Scott – January 30, February 6, 13, 20, 1:00-4:00 -$96/$108/$120
This class will introduce the student to simple and selective brush strokes the use of watercolor mediums and the unusual effects of how they interact with the paint to create florals and landscapes. The final class will also touch on Negative painting to give them an insight into the next two class series to be held in March. 

Let’s Get Positive about Negative Painting – Sandy Scott – Tuesdays, March 13, 20, 1:00-4:00 - $48/$54/$60
This class is fun and exciting and will introduce the student to a simple and easy way to understand the use of Negative painting skills. The class will work on a floral or landscape using the principles of dark against light in an impressionistic style. Please feel free to bring photos, the instructor will work with each student to gain an understanding of the negative painting process. Simple drawing skills are a plus but not a requirement. 

Watercolor on Rice Paper - Pat McMahon – Tuesday/Wednesday, April 24, 25, 10:00-12:00 $32/$36/$40
Come try an exciting new technique with watercolor! Since rice paper is see-through, you put the design under the rice paper and draw it with an indelible felt tip pen. Then you will be drawing with wax on the rice paper, then painting over the wax, crinkling it for texture, then finally ironing it in between newspapers to melt out the wax. The effect is awesome and one that will truly enhance your painting!

ABC’s of Drawing/6 Mondays - Betty DiBartelomeo – January 15, 22, 29, February 5, 12, 19, 1:00-4:00 - $144/$162/$180
If your drawing skills are poor, color will not help you to create good paintings! Learn basic drawing skills in this six week series and grow as an artist. Will require some homework. 

Open Studio - Life Drawing - Friday, February 9, 9:30-12:30 - $15 (no discounts)
There will be no instruction given and you must bring your own supplies and materials. Members are encouraged to work creatively in any media they choose whether it's watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastels, colored pencils, charcoal, etc. The poses will be long enough to encourage a finished piece.

Basic Calligraphy - Barbara Sickenberger –Friday/Monday, February 23, 26, 1:00-4:00 - $52/$59/$65
Have you ever sent a “thank you” note or birthday card? Of course you have? Now you can make your cards with your own lettering. You’ll do some basic calligraphic exercises, making curved and straight lines, all letters of the alphabet (capital and lower case), followed by actual words and the strategies of spacing. The final hour will be reserved for putting your card together with you own hand-lettered message. Beginner - Right Hand Only.

Black and White Charcoal Series/4 Mondays– Bob Way – March 12, 19, April 9, 16, 9:30-3:30 - $176/$198/$220
This course of instruction will provide a thorough introduction to the most ancient of drawing materials used by master artists from around the world - charcoal. Regardless of your level of experience, you will develop a greater proficiency in the use of this material through a series of instructor lead exercises. Each student will learn to choose a suitable subject as well as the optimum drawing surface for the maximum visual effect. Then learn how to best compose that subject to create a dynamic drawing and how to transfer the image to the chosen drawing surface. Next, you will be shown how to apply the charcoal in its various forms to develop the image into a masterful piece of artwork. Over the period allotted for this class, you will begin by creating one or more landscape drawings and then progress to other subjects of your choosing. 

Drawing Out of the Box – Barbara Sickenberger – Wednesday/Thursday April, 4, 5, 1:00-4:00 - $48/$54/$60
Let your art go out of the box! Combine lines, shapes and values to create unique compositions. See how abstract right brain thinking is the basis for all creativity. You will draw upside down, you will do contour drawing and find new ways to interpret what you see.

COLORED PENCIL AND PASTEL 

Beginning Colored Pencil - Betty Hendrix – Wednesday, January 24, 10:00-3:00 -$26/$41/ $45
Colored pencil is medium that is easily transportable and clean. This class will be an opportunity to learn about the supplies and techniques. This is a chance to try something new with a small expense as far as required supplies.

Soft Pastel-Dramatic Lighting Pastel Paintings – Betty Hendrix – Wednesday, February 14, 10:00-4:00 - $44/$50/$55
We will be using a dark sanded pastel paper to create a chiaroscuro type image. There will be some demo in the morning followed by students working from their own photos. Students should try to find (or shoot their own) photos of fairly simple subject matter such as fruits, or vegetables, might include glassware -- or floral close-up. You want something with a strong light from a single source or direction with a dark background.

Oil Pastel - Using Negative Space in Composition - Linda Drott – Thursday, March 8, 10:00-3:00 - $32/$36/$40
Inspired by Japanese art, we will transform our pictures into airy compositions utilizing the concept of making the void important.

Planning/Problem Solving! How do I do this? (Colored Pencil) – Betty Hendrix

This is for anyone who has a few photos they wish to do, but aren't sure how to approach. Sometimes what is left out is as important as what is in! How can we do backgrounds? How do I accomplish value? Etc..... Bring a few of those photos and each will choose one to be the challenge of the day.
